What makes the Swiss route different
Switzerland is not in the EU, which makes customs the central question on this route rather than an afterthought:
- Formalities on both sides. The load leaves the EU customs territory and enters Switzerland, so a proper inventory with indicative values and the right declaration are essential. We walk you through the documents so nothing holds the vehicle up at the border.
- The route runs through the EU. We reach Zurich, Basel, Bern and Geneva through Austria and Germany, which means planning for two crossings — into the EU and into Switzerland.

Paperwork and customs
Switzerland sits outside both the EU and the customs union, so a declaration is required when the goods enter and again when they leave. For a change of residence you will need an inventory with indicative values, proof of your registration and de-registration, and your passport; the vehicle carries the CMR and transit documents.
Swiss rules provide relief from duty for used household effects brought in on a change of residence, subject to conditions — relief is not the same as the absence of a procedure, and the declaration still has to be made. We prepare the inventory and deal with both borders on your behalf.

We use proper packing materials and give fragile items — glass, pictures, musical instruments — extra protection with cardboard corners and furniture blankets.
