Norway is outside the EU — what that changes
- A full customs procedure on entry. Norway is in Schengen, so there are no passport checks, but it is outside the customs union. Personal effects (flyttegods) are declared, with an inventory and proof that you have lived abroad for at least a year.
- Your own belongings, for your own use. The same principle as in the EU, but with Norwegian forms and a Norwegian procedure.
- A more detailed inventory. We ask for more detail here than for EU destinations and prepare it well in advance — a rushed inventory is the most common cause of delay at the border.
- Book earlier than for the EU. The paperwork takes longer, and the drive is two to three days with the mandatory rest periods.

These are starting prices, calculated per kilometre driven. Paperwork and customs
Norway is in the Schengen area but outside the EU and its customs union, so goods are declared on entry. For a change of residence you will need a detailed inventory, proof that you have lived abroad for at least twelve months, and your passport.
Norwegian rules provide relief from duty for used household effects brought in on a change of residence, subject to conditions. Relief is not the same as the absence of a procedure — the declaration still has to be made, and we prepare it with you before the vehicle leaves.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a move between Norway and Serbia take?
Twenty-four to twenty-five hours of driving to Oslo, so two to three days on the road. Bergen and Trondheim are longer still.
What does a move from Oslo to Belgrade cost?
A full van of up to 12 m³ starts at €2,820. Part-loads go on groupage and cost considerably less.
Why is Norway different from Sweden and Denmark?
Sweden and Denmark are in the EU, Norway is not. The passport side is the same thanks to Schengen, but the goods go through a customs declaration on entry.
What documents do I need?
A detailed inventory, proof of at least twelve months' residence abroad, and your passport. We prepare the inventory in advance, because that is where delays usually come from.
