What to plan for on an Italian move
- Two possible corridors. Through Slovenia (Fernetti, near Trieste) or through Austria (Tarvisio). We pick according to your address, the season and the traffic, and Trieste at 600 km is by some distance the shortest run we make into Italy.
- Narrow streets and historic centres. In Venice, Florence, Bologna and the older parts of most Italian cities, a large vehicle cannot reach the door. We check the access in advance and plan the carry, or use a smaller van for the final stretch.
- Restricted traffic zones. Many city centres are ZTL zones with limited access hours for vehicles. We schedule loading and unloading inside the permitted window.
- Distances within Italy. The country is long: Rome is 1,400 km from Belgrade and Naples 1,600, so southern addresses are a two-day transport rather than one.

Paperwork and customs
Italy is in the EU and in the Schengen area; Serbia is in neither, so a customs procedure applies in both directions. For a change of residence you will need an inventory of your belongings, proof of residence (Certificato di Residenza, or the AIRE registration for Italians abroad) and your passport.
Moving into the EU falls under the rules on the transfer of normal residence: personal belongings may enter free of duty and VAT where the conditions are met, typically that you have owned and used them for at least six months. Relief from duty is not the same as the absence of a procedure. Our drivers cross at Fernetti and Tarvisio several times a month and handle the formalities for you.

How long does a move between Italy and Serbia take?
Trieste is seven hours from Belgrade, Milan ten, Rome fifteen and Naples seventeen. Northern Italy is usually a one-day transport; Rome and the south are two.
What does a move from Milan to Belgrade cost?
