The road and the border
South through Niš to the North Macedonian border at Preševo, across to Evzoni and then the A1 down past Thessaloniki, Larissa and Lamia. Two border crossings, both quick, and neither is a customs stop — North Macedonia is transit and Greece is in the EU.

About Athens

Practical notes
From June to September the loading and unloading are done early — by midday in Athens the temperature makes carrying unsafe and it ruins candles, records and anything with adhesive in it. We schedule accordingly rather than push on. The other constant is the terrain: Athens runs up several hills and the older blocks on them have narrow, tightly turning stairwells with small lifts.
