What is a part load?
Your things share a vehicle with other consignments and you pay for the space you use. It is far cheaper than a dedicated van, and it is the usual choice for anything under about 5 m³.
Do I pay duty on my own furniture?
Not if you qualify for Transfer of Residence relief. You must have lived outside the destination country for at least twelve consecutive months and have owned and used the goods for at least six.
What is ToR1 and when do I file it?
It is the HMRC application for that relief on goods entering the UK, and it must be filed before the shipment arrives. Approval has taken anywhere from 24 hours to five weeks, which is why we ask for early notice.
How long does the journey take?
Two to three days on the road. The paperwork usually determines the start date rather than the driving.
