Belgrade to Rijeka is about 600 km, seven hours' driving, with a studio from €720. Rijeka is a port and university city at the head of the Kvarner, and the route to it is the one most exposed to wind anywhere on our Croatian list.
What the move costs
The price depends on how much there is, how many days of packing are needed, the floor at each address, and any extras. Indicative starting prices:
| Home | Volume | From |
|---|---|---|
| Studio or one-bedroom, up to 30 m² | up to 8 m³ | €720 |
| Two-bedroom, 30–50 m² | 10–15 m³ | €860 |
| Three-bedroom, 50–80 m² | 15–20 m³ | €1,080 |
| Four-bedroom or house, 80 m²+ | 20 m³+ | €1,520 |
These are starting prices, calculated per kilometre driven. A full service with movers, packing and reassembly runs at €1.5–1.9 per kilometre; groupage is charged by the space your load takes up. For an exact figure call +381 66 50-40-30-9.

The road and the border
West to Bajakovo, across Slavonia and past Zagreb, then south-west on the A6 over Gorski Kotar and down to the bay. The descent to Rijeka is the stretch that matters: it is steep, and in winter it takes both snow and bura, sometimes on the same day.

- A crew — driver and two movers
- Fragile items packed in stretch film and bubble wrap
- Dismantling of large furniture — beds, wardrobes, tables

- Customs paperwork — inventory, CMR and transit documents
- Unloading at your new address and reassembly of the furniture
- Cover against breakage, theft and road accidents
About Rijeka
Rijeka, Opatija, Kastav and Viškovo take most of these deliveries, with Istria — Pula, Poreč, Rovinj — an hour further west on the same runs. Opatija in particular has a steady flow of holiday flats being furnished and emptied.
Practical notes
Rijeka rises steeply from the port, and many of the older residential streets above the centre are narrow, one-way, and reached by ramps that a long vehicle cannot turn into. In the worst cases the load is carried a hundred metres or shuttled in a smaller van, and that has to be priced rather than discovered. A photograph of the street and the entrance is enough for us to tell you which it is. In winter, check the forecast with us before fixing a date: the Gorski Kotar section closes to high vehicles in strong bura.
Frequently asked questions
What does this route cost?
From €720 for a studio up to 8 m³, €860 for a two-bedroom, €1,080 for a three-bedroom and €1,520 for a house.
Why do you ask for a photograph of the street?
Because above the centre the streets are narrow, one-way and often ramped. Whether the van reaches your door decides the crew and the price.
Does the weather affect this route?
In winter, yes. The Gorski Kotar section takes snow and bura, and closes to high-sided vehicles in a strong blow. We wait rather than risk it.
Do you cover Opatija and Istria?
Yes — Opatija, Kastav and Viškovo, and Pula, Poreč and Rovinj an hour further west.
How long does it take?
About seven hours of driving; 1–2 working days door to door.
Is there a customs procedure?
No. Croatia is in the EU and in Schengen.
