What to plan for
- Mountain roads, not motorway. The route runs over Zlatibor and through Pljevlja, so the driving time is longer than the distance suggests and winter conditions can add to it.
- The coast in summer. Between June and September, traffic and parking in Budva, Kotor and Herceg Novi are difficult. We schedule loading early in the morning and agree a stopping place in advance.
- Old town centres. In Kotor and parts of the coast, larger vehicles cannot reach the entrance. We plan the carry in advance, or use a smaller van for the last stretch.
- Border crossings. Gostun is the quickest for Podgorica and the coast; Ranče and Dobrakovo are the alternatives.

Paperwork and customs
Montenegro and Serbia are both in the CEFTA agreement, which governs the movement of goods between them. Relief from duty on used personal and household effects in a change of residence depends on the rules of the country you are moving to and on the documents you provide — we prepare the packing list, and you will need your ID card or passport.

How long does the drive from Belgrade to Podgorica take?
About five and a half hours for the 450 km, over Zlatibor and through Pljevlja. Budva and Bar are another hour and a half beyond that. A complete move usually takes one to two days.
