The short answer
Saturday is by far the most requested day for a move, which is why those slots fill first. With us there is no weekend surcharge — the labour rate is the same every day of the week.
There is still a price difference, but it comes from the other direction. We give a discount every day, between 10 and 15 per cent, and the largest discounts fall on the weekdays when demand is lower. In practice the same move on a Tuesday can be 5 to 10 per cent cheaper than on a Saturday — not because Saturday is dearer, but because Tuesday carries a bigger discount.
Be careful with quotes where the weekend carries a visible surcharge "because it is busy". That is usually a sign the price is being made up on the spot. Ask for a fixed price in advance, for whichever day you want.
Why the weekend is busy
Most people cannot take a day off work, so moves get pushed into Saturday morning — the single most requested slot of the week. Add the handovers of flats, which are usually tied to the start and end of the month, and you get the peak: the first and last Saturday of the month are booked out with us up to two weeks ahead.
Sunday is quieter than Saturday, but the same rule applies: whoever books first picks the time. Afternoon slots stay free longer than morning ones.

When to book
For a weekend move, book seven to ten days ahead — and earlier for the first or last Saturday of the month. For a weekday, two or three days is usually enough, and we can often do the next day.
If a date has fallen through or something urgent has come up, we work around the clock, every day — see emergency moves.
How to pay less
If you have the choice: a weekday in the middle of the month, in the morning. The discount is bigger, the streets are freer for parking the van, and the crew has not come from three previous addresses.
If it has to be the weekend, book early and have everything ready: boxes packed, parking arranged, the building manager told. A move that is properly prepared takes less time, and less time is less money — the rate is for the work, not the day.
Prices by flat type are on the price list, and the calculator gives a figure for your own flat. If you are moving a company, the weekend is often the only slot that avoids losing a working day — see office moving.
Frequently asked questions
Does a move on Saturday cost more than on a weekday?
The labour rate is the same, but weekdays carry larger daily discounts of 10 to 15 per cent, so the same move on a Tuesday works out 5 to 10 per cent cheaper than on a Saturday. There is no weekend surcharge.
How far ahead should I book a weekend move?
Seven to ten days for an ordinary Saturday, and two weeks for the first or last Saturday of the month, when flat handovers concentrate. Weekdays can often be booked for the next day.
Do you work on Sundays and public holidays?
Yes — every day, around the clock, including Sundays and holidays, with no surcharge for the day.
What is the cheapest day to move?
A weekday in the middle of the month. That is when the daily discounts are largest and when you have the most choice of time slot. A morning start also helps, because the crew has not come from earlier jobs.
Can I do anything else to bring the price down?
Have everything packed before the crew arrives, arrange parking at both addresses and tell the building manager in advance. The price is for the work, so a move that is properly prepared finishes faster and costs less.
